Parish & Ward Church of St. Botolph without Bishopsgate

Bowyers at St Botolph's

The Worshipful Company of Bowyers filled St Botolph's on Wednesday 11 July to witness the installation of their new Master and Wardens. The service was led by the Company's Chaplain, Dr Alan McCormack, our former Rector, who preached a stirring and encouraging sermon; and much wonderful music chosen by the new Master was sung by the choir of St Botolph's under the direction of Iestyn Evans. The outgoing Master, Mr Tony Kench, carried the Company's great war bow into church, where it remained on the altar during the service until it was handed over to the new Master, Mr Ian Spring, to carry out.
The new Wardens, Mr David Laxton and Mr Nigel Heilpern, appear in the photos (taken by Jake Sugden) along with the former and new Masters, the Clerk and Beadle. Some were taken during the installation ceremony and the service, and some are formal poses at the window installed by the Bowyers to mark the restoration of St Botolph's following the Bishopsgate bombing 25 years ago, and outside the church with splendid hats and nosegays.
