Parish & Ward Church of St. Botolph without Bishopsgate

Alms given and collections taken during Advent
and at Carol Services are divided between the church’s chosen charities, which this year are:

The Sheriffs’ & Recorder’s Fund

The British prison population is over 86,000. On release, prisoners receive £46. Lacking money, education, a job, a stable family and a home, over 70 per cent re-offend and their life is spent in and out of prison. The Sheriffs’ & Recorder’s Fund, run by the Sheriffs of the City of London, helps to break this vicious cycle. At the critical time when a prisoner is released, the Fund gives small grants to supply a vital need. It also gives large grants to prison-based charitable schemes which work towards the rehabilitation of ex-prisoners.

St Mungo’s

St Mungo’s outreach teams go out each night to meet people who are homeless and to help them off the streets. With 17 outreach teams the charity is one of the largest providers of outreach services in the country. Each night it offers a bed and support to more than 2,800 people across the south and south west. St Mungo’s has a positive approach to homelessness and believes that people can, and do, recover from the issues that cause homelessness. It works to prevent homelessness and support people at every step of their recovery from homelessness.

Please give as generously as you are able, and if you are a UK taxpayer please complete a Gift Aid envelope so that we can claim a further 25% for the charities on top of your donation.
