Health update on The Rector

Many of you will know that Fr David was admitted to St Thomas’s Hospital for a week at the start of December following a severe recurrence of a long-standing spinal injury – he was able with the help of strong pain medication to lead a few services later in the month, but was advised to rest at home after Christmas, so he has not been at church yet this year although he was able to do some work from home. In addition, it transpired in the course of medical investigations last week that he had suffered a minor heart attack, probably brought on by the initial intense pain in his spine. He is now being treated by the excellent St Thomas’s for both the spinal and cardiac issues, and his consultants have now recommended complete rest for a further month, so he has agreed to take full sick leave until the beginning of March. We wish him a full recovery – please keep him in your prayers.

In Fr David’s absence we will do our very best to maintain a full service schedule; if for any reason we are unable to find clerical cover for any service we will announce this on the website and on notices in church. We are immensely grateful to all the visiting clergy who have helped to cover services in December and January, and who will continue to do so throughout February.
